TODAY'S SHARING THE WORD DEVOTIONAL
WOULD YOU BE LOST WITHOUT IT?
Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.
Psalms 119:97, NIV
During my travels, I've visited numerous hotels throughout the years and always found it comforting when I opened the nightstand drawer and found a Bible within, especially when I've forgotten mine. But during some of my recent hotel visits, I've opened the nightstand and found no Bible there.
And I thought: "What would I do if I did not have regular access to God's Word? Would I still be able to live the Christian life effectively?"
The psalmist may have been lost without it. For he loved God's Word so much that he meditated on it whenever he got a chance - morning, noon or night. Having access to God's Word seemed as important to him as having access to food or water.
Perhaps that's your reaction as well. Do you love God's Word so much that you'll meditate on it whenever you get a chance? Is it as important to you as food and water?
I was glad when I arrived home and had an opportunity to open my Bible and read it, for I definitely felt a void not having access to it on my trip. But my experience reminded that the best place to ensure I'd never be without God's word was by hiding it in my heart, for once it was written there, no one could ever take it away.
Are you hiding God's Word in your heart so that it can never be taken away?
